About Our Collars
There are many different styles of collars available.
Slide Release Buckle—Our buckles are made by Fastex/Nexus specifically for pet collars. They have a curve for a better fit. We consider these buckles to be the best and most durable.
No Buckle, Slip-on—These are for our customers who do not like a buckle. This collar slips on, tighten to fit and leave. All metal hardware, no plastic.
Limited Slip/Humane Choke Collar—Also used for training, this collar will not choke your dog by accident and it gives you several inches for correctional training.
Martingale Collar—This collar used for breeds whose necks are larger than their heads. It also works as a humane choke, and it is becoming more popular for walking. This is not a collar to be kept on a dog all the time. Any dog can use this collar.
Greyhound Collar—This collar is designed for the breed. It has a wider neck piece softened with an inside piece of sherpa to protect a greyhound's fine coat. It has a loop lock to keep the collar tight and can be made with or without the attached lead.
Choke Style—Similar to a choke chain, this collar is made with nylon and ribbon.
Velcro-Quick Release—This is a short leash that attaches to your collar and velcros around the pet's neck so you can be leash-free when walking. A quick tug gives returns control to you. This collar is very popular for animals when walking in a "leash-free" zone or park.
Sizing Tips
Collars
Collars are available in a variety of styles and widths. They should be snug with enough room to slide two fingers between your pet’s neck and his collar. Collars should not be too tight or too loose. Both can cause safety issues. Check collar size frequently on growing puppies. Use a tape measure to measure your pet’s neck, then add on two to three inches, or you can measure your dog's current collar and then add the extra inches.
If you are unable to measure your pet’s neck, or this collar is a gift for another animal, please use the sizing chart listed below. There are always exceptions, but this chart is very true to size. If you are still unsure, please email us and we can help. We can make most size collars in most widths.
Harness
Harnesses are measured behind the front legs (girth). This is the only measurement we need to size your harness. Harnesses are recommended for breeds with soft tracheas (e.g., pugs, bassets, and any pulling dog who can damage its trachea). There are two types of harnesses; a standard H harness and a step-into. Both styles can be made into any size and webbing width.
